"I confess my sins and got baptized, what more must I do." No this is not a platform to push Arminius theology over Calvin's. Regardless of you doctrinal belief there are some basic Bible ethics to consider. Whether your totally saved at confession or can fall from grace is not important here. The question is why do some believers jump into ministry while others choose to warm the pews sometimes for years, sometimes forever. My personal feeling is that it is a heart condition that is a stumbling block or a catalyst to getting involved in ministry. To give a worldly example; A person meets many other people in life. And though they do nice things they don't go the extra mile that they do for someone the truly love. When you LOVE someone you want to please them to the best of your ability. I wish I new the secret to making people truly fall in love with Jesus. While I know most are greatful to Jesus for salvation the difference seems to be when the truly love him. Even in Jesus day, he would have a congregation of 5,000 or more at times, but only a few hundred followed him and of those only twelve were intimate with him. I use to think it was a matter in truly being a servant to the Lord that made people do Jesus' bidding. Mt 8:9* For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. If you had given your life to Jesus that made you a servant then you would do his will. But doing a word search in the bible I find many references to good and bad servants. Again I go back to the love and gratitude as a reason to give to the Lord. 42 When they had not
wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore
will love him most? To often our churches are used to preserve personal piety. To quote Lenard Ravenhill "Our churches were not meant to be refrigerators preserving personal piety, but instead a furnace to melt the soul." I'm not one for hell fire and brimstone sermons, this often pushes people away from God's loving grace and should be used as a last resort only. My pastor has been encouraging us to be intimate with God. Through this intimate relation love will flourish. Once we know the Lord on a one to one basis then we will BEGIN to understand scriptures like 22 But be ye doers
of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Don't just read about it, DO IT. Continue Page3
