Quite a few of the AngelFairy subscribers asked that I approach the subject of spousal abuse in a more upbeat manner. Since I have lived through it the hurt runs deep here and so I had to take my cue from my email. This epic poem was sent to us by a woman who feared for her life and pulled out of the situation before the fear became reality.

THE GETAWAY

Tonight is the night, she must go,

She knows this is the day,

That she must gather all her strength,

And finally get away.

If she is to see tomorrow,

She must leave this place behind,

Take herself and her sweet child,

A safe place she must find.

So quietly she gathers up,

A few things that she needs,

Then with her child held to her heart,

In silent prayer she pleads.

"Dear God, please help us now I pray,

Help us to make it clear,

For if he finds us once again,

Will be our death I fear."

Softly she will close the door,

No footsteps will be heard,

As they pass into the dark,

I love you, her babe's assured.

She finds her way down the road,

To where the bus will run,

And even though her journey's long,

It surely must be done.

She glances over her shoulder,

To make sure no one is there,

As she sneaks behind the bushes,

She and babe will hide with care.

She has the ticket in her hand,

Her mom had bought for them,

And as she hears the bus approach,

She silently cries, "Amen."

Finally she is on her way,

They've made it out alive,

She knows that with the help of God,

She and baby will survive.

For hours and hours their trip goes on,

There's miles and miles between,

The pain, the sorrow, and abuse,

Like few had seldom seen.

And as the new day started,

And the sun was shining bright,

She gave thanks to God above,

For seeing them through the night.

She gazed out of the window,

And recognized the town,

It won't be long till she will find,

A new life and settle down.

As the bus pulls to a stop,

Her heart is pounding loud,

But then she sees her mother,

She's waiting in the crowd.

As the tears flow from her eyes,

She meets her mother's smile,

And three strong ladies now embrace,

And will for quite a while.

Three generations of women,

Will now make up a team,

And fight the evils of abuse,

Leave the nightmares, find a dream.

Many years have now gone by,

And the bond these ladies share,

Is the love of one another,

And for God who's always there.

This song is "Love Hurts." It was originally sung by Elvis Presley, though many others have sung it during their career.

It seems like every time I go to the site of my Dreambook that it is being worked on. I know that they have gotten a new server, but it sure does make it hard at times for nice people like us. So, I guess the only answer is for you to send your comments directly to me, it really is better for you that way. Now you can tell me what you REALLY think and you don't have to worry about anyone else reading your comments. I just ask that, if you come from out of the USA, could you please tell me the country you are from. I know that we go world-wide, it's just nice to know how far we really do reach.

Just use the link below and your comments will be sent directly to me alone.
