the Rainbow above it.
One
of the most beautiful gifts of nature God has given us is the
rainbow. While traveling through the mountains of northern Virginia
and southern West Virginia, I witnessed the most spectacular rainbows
I have ever seen. One rainbow seemed to be just in front on our
truck as we drove, leading us through the rain on that winding
and twisting highway. The colors were magnificent. As I traveled
further, I began to think about the colors and wondered if they
meant anything in the scheme of things.
The
red made me think of the blood of Jesus. I took it as a sign from
God that He is watching over me, protecting those who truly believe.
The
orange reminded me of gold. A precious metal that symbolizes love.
For it is the love from above that makes each of us have hope.
The
bright yellow of the rainbow reminded me of the sun that was shining
brightly over that mountain peak. Just like the Son, it provides
us with warmth and the light of salvation.
The
green color of that beautiful rainbow reminded me of springtime,
when everything is new and coming alive, just like when we are
reborn in the love of Christ.
The
blue was as blue as the open sky, our window to Heaven.
If you
look up the definition of violet, you will see it described as
beyond blue. If blue is the window to Heaven, then the violet
must be Heaven itself. If we believe in the blood of Jesus, his
love for us, the newness of being reborn like the springtime,
and we look to the sky in belief, then Heaven is our destination.
Maybe
the rainbow is just our reminder of God's promises.
