The continuing Trip to the Mountains

Aspen Colordo and Independence Pass

A reflection of the Lord

As we journey If you wish to see a larger picture click on the picture, make a card and send it to someone special!

After we left Leadville, Tourquoise Lake and Haggerman Pass we journeyed south abouth 5 miles to Independence Pass. Twin Lakes (left) is a large man made lake which serves as a small power plant, and water storage for the larger cities on the eastern slope and irigation for the farms befor it finally ends up in the Missouri River. It is great for fishing and boating. Most important it had out houses; no more looking for trees!! As the Kid's said "Thank You Jesus"!

Aspen pass is opened from late October till April when it has 5 to 10 feet of snow on it. s we climbed the pass we could see the Aspens below us, but ahead was just rock with a few blades of wild grass . We parked the 15 passenger Van in a space that might hold a small car and walked 20 yard to view the Valley.

This takes my breath away. It makes me wonder... The sight tha Joshua saw was more beautiful than this! No wonder the longed to go to the promised land

Joshua 11:16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
Joshua 11:17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

As we began to descend down the west slope of Independence Pass things started to get green again. And the little bitty mud puddle of a creek at the top began to turn into a roaring river.

God's design never ceases to amaze me. The power of a little creek is able to carve away the walls of rock mountains. The distructive power is un-imaginable, yet without it we can not live.

Is it a wonder why Jesus always went to the Mountains to be close to God

John 6:3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
John 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

John 4:6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

After we Assended the Aspen Pass we got on I70 for a two hour ride to get home. Our hearts were filled with God's wonders and hopes that we can return in the Spring to see the runoff and mor of our Lord's amazing creations. Till then God Bless. Mike
